Svabhava-Kavi Gangadhara Meher (1862-1924) famous as 'Prakriti-Kavi', Poet of Nature, in Oriya Literature, possesses a special unique excellence and for his poetic significance, he is regarded as one among the illustrious makers of Indian Literature.

'Tapasvini', an eleven-canto Oriya epic-poem, is considered as a great classic and the best creation of Gangadhara. This Ramayana-based kavya elucidates the post-banishment episode of Sita's later life in the hermitage of Sage Valmiki.

With own innovative muse, the poet has depicted Sita as Tapasvini, a Lady Ascetic, who even if repudiated by his husband-king Rama, observes utter penance for his all well-being. The poet has sincerely established the glory of a devoted wife steeped in Indian culture.

The present book comprises Tapasvini's Complete Sanskrit Translation done by
Dr. Harekrishna Meher with a critical and elaborate discussion on this mahakavya. This Sanskrit Tapasvini verily deserves a unique figure with modern new style in the sphere of Sanskrit Literature.
